A hernia is a hole in the abdominal wall where there should not be one. Common areas are inguinal( groin), umbilical( near your belly button) , ventral(above your belly button)  and incisional( where you previously have had surgery).  They normally manifest as a bulge that can be reduced. In general most hernias are repaired but each patient is evaluated individually.
